Lyrics of Love and Sorrow

I

Love is the light of the world, my dear,

   Heigho, but the world is gloomy;

The light has failed and the lamp down hurled,

  Leaves only darkness to me.

Love is the light of the world, my dear,

   Ah me, but the world is dreary;

The night is down, and my curtain furled

  But I cannot sleep, though weary.

Love is the light of the world, my dear,

   Alas for a hopeless hoping,

When the flame went out in the breeze that swirled,

  And a soul went blindly groping.

Analysis

    In “Lyrics of Love and Sorrow,” Paul Bundar expresses that love is everything and without it there is nothing.  The repetition in the first sentence of each stanza emphasizes the strong meaning of the words “Love is the light of the world, my dear.”   Love is inspiration, love is hope, and love is salvation. In other words, love is everything. Now in days, we yearn for the love our other half. We dream about her or him, and this yearning is what drives us to keep going. There is another type of love; the love that unconditionally our parents give. We always take it as granted, but if we open up our minds and soul we can see that there are people suffering because of the lack of love in their home. So they looked this love in the wrong place making the biggest mistake in their life. Love is unconditional and pure.
